Description

The Ashta Dikpalas are the eight guardian deities, each ruling over a specific direction of the universe. They are also known as Dikpalas (protectors of the quarters).

Each Dikpala is associated with a cardinal or inter-cardinal direction and is believed to protect that specific region. 

Here' is a list of the Ashta Dikpalas and their corresponding directions: 

  • East: Indra (on Airavata, the white elephant)

  • Southeast: Agni (on a goat)

  • South: Yama (on a buffalo)

  • Southwest: Nirurti (on a horse)

  • West: Varuna (on a crocodile)

  • Northwest: Vayu (on a deer)

  • North: Kubera (on a man)

  • Northeast: Ishana (on a bull)

PLACEMENT

Stick or place it on the wall at a height of 6 to 7 feet in each of the directions as mentioned in every dikpal.
